Concrete braiding or furniture parts? We give recycled steel a new purpose. The steel we use comes from steel recycling and would normally end up in the concrete industry - a final destination, because there it disappears forever from the cycle. A shame, we think. That is why we use this steel for something that does remain: the bases of our chairs.
Thus the material is given a second life, visible and valuable. This is special, because traditional steel mills prefer not to see this happen. Why? Because they too must and want to become greener, but the system is full of contradictions. One example is chromium: a well-known protective coating that gives steel a shiny appearance. But chromium is difficult to recycle and for that very reason is rather avoided in sustainable production chains. We therefore consciously choose an alternative. Instead of chrome, we paint our bases in a series of beautiful colors. In this way we protect the steel, embellish the design and make a sustainable statement.
