Nylon

Nylon 6 is manufactured from fossil fuels, resulting in greenhouse gas emissions and depleting natural resources. Our use of recycled nylon 6, derived from fishing nets, carpets and post-consumer products, allows us to produce high-quality products after processing and sorting the colorless grains. For every ton of regenerated ECONYL® nylon, we save seven barrels of crude oil. Recycling carpets can have a positive impact on our world, but requires everyone's contribution to this change.

ECONYL® regenerated nylon has a number of unique properties: high mechanical strength, stiffness, hardness and toughness. Good fatigue resistance, high mechanical damping capacity and excellent wear resistance and, of course, good processability

When recycling nylon carpets, they are broken down into three main components: polypropylene, nylon 6 and calcium carbonate (chalk). Polypropylene, used mainly for the backing of carpets, can be reused in injection molding processes. Calcium carbonate, used for carpet reinforcement, finds application in road construction and concrete. Nylon 6 extracted from carpets, along with other recycled materials such as fishing nets or textile waste, can be reused to produce ECONYL® regenerated nylon, which is used for carpets, furniture, clothing and other products.
