Recycled steel

Concrete reinforcement or furniture components? We give recycled steel a new purpose. The steel we use comes from steel recycling and would normally end up in the concrete industry—a dead end, as it disappears from the circular loop forever. We think that’s a waste. That’s why we use this steel for something that lasts: the bases of our chairs.

This gives the material a second life that is both visible and valuable. That’s unique, because traditional steel mills would rather not see this happen. Why? Because they also need and want to become greener, but the system is full of contradictions. One example is chrome: a well-known protective coating that gives steel a shiny appearance. However, chrome is difficult to recycle and is therefore best avoided in sustainable production chains. We consciously choose an alternative. Instead of chrome, we powder-coat our bases in a series of beautiful colors. This protects the steel, enhances the design, and makes a sustainable statement.
